Annual Cowichan River Clean-up

As ambassadors of the Cowichan River we do our best at The Tube Shack to keep the river clean, safe and sustainable, for everyone to enjoy responsibly. Some of the ways we contribute include:

  • Providing free river safe sunscreen to all of our customers
  • Daily river cleanups
  • Daily garbage and recycling collection at Little Beach throughout summer
  • All cans/bottles collected from Little Beach are donated to charity or locals in need

Want to help make a difference?

We are currently seeking volunteers to help with the River Clean-up on  September 10th 2023. There are a variety of areas where help is needed from local divers and boaters.

Volunteers will be entered to win one of many door prizes.

We are proud to be teaming up with the Cowichan Lake & River Stewardship Society and The Tube Shack to help facilitate the 2021 Annual Cowichan River Clean-up.

In 2020 with Covid sweeping into the area, The Tube Shack led the river clean up and we are now happy to announce we have partnered with the CLRSS going forward.

The CLRSS are a group of folks from the shores of Lake Cowichan and the Cowichan River, who have come together to show their respect for our shared watershed, this great Canadian Heritage River and the lake at its source. For the past 11 years they’ve helped haul tonnes of old appliances, tires, metal bits, bottles, cans, punctured tubes and lots of litter out of the river.
